My Nanna was a high quality upholsterer for most of her working life. She bought my sewing machine and taught me to use it. During this time, she told me that I could not really sew until I had sewn through my finger! I have never done so and, to this day, twenty years after her death, I still don't know if she was joking!

Rather you than me! I was totally put off sewing machines in my teens, when we were forced to sew hideous A-line skirts at school.

Haven't been by in while - my you've been busy. Those cushion covers are going to be so special. Glad you have won the mind battle over the sewing machine, especially a lovely old singer like that.
Swatches too? you are being a good girl, as for what to do with them, I would sew them together to make a blanket/throw (well I would if I actually knit swatches !!!)

I love your sewing machine! It's lovely. My Mum is very good at sewing but refuse to teach me until now. So I'm learning at the moment. Thanks for reminding me that my sewing machine exist, I have used it for a while now.

Excellent! One of my friends gave me the antique sewing machine very similar to yours. The shape of the bobbin was totally different and I was so scared to use it... I am very impressed!

I blame the yarn fumes. I wasn't going to buy any yarn in January - not a diet but a rational thought that maybe this year I would try and knit up more than I would buy. It soon became clear that depriving myself of yarn in gloomy January when I wasn't feeling well was about the most irrational thing I could do. So when I saw some hand dyed sock yarn called Sea Spray from an ebay seller based in Cornwall I had to have it :o) Then I saw that Get Knitted has the Knitpicks Harmony DPNs set so I just cruised on over there for a peek and managed to talk myself down from the full six pack to just trying one pack - ooh just look at them. I got the 2.25mm size as someone who shall remain nameless (but who has been wearing a nice scarf of late) sat his great bottom on my set of 2.25 sock needles and snappyed one. It's a magic number. My blog is three years old today. I can't quite think whether it feels like I've had a blog for three minutes or if I always had one. Do you ever feel that way about time? Somehow that first post is forever ago and also yesterday. Anyway it wouldn't be a good blogiversary without some prizes for t'dear readers would it now? Three years means three prizes in my book and as my destashing efforts have been hurt by my yarn tourism I think I'd better share some stash as prizes and redress the balance a bit. These are all yarns that I'm just not sure what to do with so I hope your imaginations are better than mine.
