I think Lixie mentioned this on her recent podcast but it was when I saw it in action on Terrie's blog that I got how cool it is.

As my brain is slightly addled by this evil infection I am capable of knitting only straightforward things this weekend. Dreamcatcher's lovely hat pattern is just the ticket:Thanks again Dreamcatcher for sharing this pattern, it's racing along and the other half is anticipating a warm bonce soon :o)

I've managed to finish up my second Christmas gift too:

Yarn: Rowan Plaid - Moonwave, 2 skeins
Needles: 8mm Wooden Straights
Started: 14 October 2007
Finished: 27 October 2007
Notes: Is this the single most knit scarf after plain garter stitch? There are currently 757 of these logged as projects on Ravelry with a further 921 queued. That many knitters can't be wrong! I love it and will surely make more. This yarn is great too - super warm mix of merino, alpaca and acrylic - why oh why was it discontinued? I suppose I should be grateful as I've gathered up some bargain lots because it has been.

Now someone is showing me how I should be getting in some more sofa time, powerless to argue I'm off.Hope the knitting has been good for you this weekend, lots of love

I think that there must be colds going through blogland at the moment, I hope you feel better soon. The scarf is lovely in that yarn. I havn't used it before.

It's a great scarf pattern - not sure if I've got it in my Ravelry queue but it is in my mental queue AND I even have yarn for it!

Yup, I've come across the Flickr letters - they're great, aren't they!

So you've been browsing the free patterns on Ravelry as well! I've also got the So Called Scarf on my wish list (as well as a squillion others). Have you seen the Criss Cross scarf? I've absolutely got to knit that one....

Totally agree about Rowan Plaid - I've got an old FO in that yarn that I've been meaning to post, but never get the chance to because it seems to be in constant wear during daylight hours :) The tweediness is lovely with the So-Called Scarf.

I've hit the December point known as - "if only there were more time" - I think it about a thousand times a day as I have yet another crazy idea of something to make/cook/do for Christmas. I like to think that if I could just abandon the job for December that I'd get it all done. I'd get more done for sure but it could never be 'all' as the inspiration out there ensures fresh supplies of schemes for wintery delights - like learning to crochet just to make snowflakes or building my own snow village or... well I'm sure you all get the idea and have a billion things bubbling over that you'll never quite get to. So it's prioritise like crazy, craft for sanity (and if it is as simple as wrapping some berries and mistletoe round a heart shaped wreath - jump for joy) and I try to remember that seeing the people I'm making the presents for is the most important thing of all! The Keeping Cosy Winter Shawl

  Pattern: Springtime Bandit   Yarn: Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend, Colour: Atlantic Started: November 2010 Finished: January 16th 2011 Ravelry page I think photographing this shawl has been ten times the challenge that knitting it was! I've taken several shots over several days to try and capture the glory of this red yarn, I'm calling it a day now though I haven't quite got what I wanted as in these grey, dingy days I don't think I will. Happily I feel the absolute opposite about the actual garment, it's everything I dreamed it could be when I saw the inspiring version A Girl In Winter made in the Manos Silk Blend and this shade, evasive though it may be to the camera is so uplifting that it's been the perfect companion for dark, winter days. It's a warm, deep multi-toned red with a pinky blue base, a real treat for the eye. The shawl is big and grand, but cosy and homely all at once. A wonderful pairing of yarn and pattern. The peloton have long since disbanded so I can't claim any colour jersey for this but I loved being part of the knitalong so I'm really just pleased I wasn't months behind.
