Little Things...

...are really fun to make. From my three balls of Baby Bamboo came this sweet little set:Pattern: Sirdar Snuggly Baby Bamboo Jacket 1866

Needles: 4mm Knit Pro Interchangeables
Started: 16 January 2010
Finished: 5 February 2010
Plenty of room for some 'design' features even on this simple little pattern, necessity being the mother of invention and all that. Yes I did forget to make a button hole, though I am in love with the spotty ribbon ties so that was clearly meant to be. Whether the little bubs will have long enough arms to cope with my misreading of the pattern remains to be seen, though I like the little fold back cuffs I created.

I skipped the matching beret pattern for the cutest hat in the world which also happens to look a lot more practical. I have no experience of trying to keep a beret on a baby's head but ...

This is a super fun and quick knit and I am in love with the pictures of the baby aviators on Ravelry, no babies here so kind thanks to Bear for being a great stand-in model.
The beautiful patchwork quilt is made by the very generous Mr Monkey Suit , so many kind thanks to her for her donation and to the amazing Craft Hope team who co-ordinated the Craft Hope for Haiti shop (still open for a couple more days if you haven't had a little peek at the amazing treasures from our lovely crafty community there).

The next pattern up to feed my new addiction to making teeny little things is the Little Sister's Dress. I want one of these for myself but sadly although there is a Big Sister's Dress there doesn't seem to be an Awesome Honourable Auntie's one.

That hat may very well be the cutest baby hat I've seen! I don't knit for babies much but I can definitely appreciate the joy found in knitting tiny things! And wow, beautiful quilt!

That is the sweetest little outfit!! Love the colours, love the spots and stripes, agree entirely that hat is going to be easier to keep on a baby than a beret!!

And thanks for the quilt details, I was admiring that too as I was reading along!

The outfit is great, especially the hat! I love the strong bright colours and stripes.

I know I've seen a version of Little/Big Sister's Dress upsized for about an 8 year old or so, on Ravelry. I'm sure it could be made into an adult sized tunic pretty easily. It's only a matter of time before someone does it!

That hat brought back memories of our little girl (now a mum2B) playing at being a pilot when she was small - I just have to make that hat for my new grandbubby! Thanks for the inspiration.

Christmas TIME

I've hit the December point known as - "if only there were more time" - I think it about a thousand times a day as I have yet another crazy idea of something to make/cook/do for Christmas. I like to think that if I could just abandon the job for December that I'd get it all done. I'd get more done for sure but it could never be 'all' as the inspiration out there ensures fresh supplies of schemes for wintery delights - like learning to crochet just to make snowflakes or building my own snow village or... well I'm sure you all get the idea and have a billion things bubbling over that you'll never quite get to. So it's prioritise like crazy, craft for sanity (and if it is as simple as wrapping some berries and mistletoe round a heart shaped wreath - jump for joy) and I try to remember that seeing the people I'm making the presents for is the most important thing of all! I don't think I'll be back here before I head down to the wilds

Elle est fini :o) My little beret has finally made it over the finishing line. The peloton have long since disbanded so I can't claim any colour jersey for this but I loved being part of the knitalong so I'm really just pleased I wasn't months behind.
