Shiny and New

Why is it that 'the next project' is so much more exciting for me than what is on the needles? I tend to give in to my rampant startitis but I have three projects I'm trying to stay motivated to finish before my latest gorgeous new yarn gets a chance to fulfil its destiny, no doubt becoming a less appealing WIP that has to compete for attention with the next shiny and new project along the way.

It's all knitting so why does it matter what I knit? Sometimes it's the FO motivating factor but honestly one of my WIPs that would be so easy to ignore is a pair of socks for me, me, me that I am super keen to have on the hoof. It's probably having a butterfly brain that always wants to be flitting on to the next thing, part of de-stressing is about being more in the now so I'm sure I should stop dreaming of the next project and just start knitting what I have on the go. Who knows I might even get to the new thing faster if I wasn't busy taking photos and petting it :o)This beautiful yarn is from Dreamcatcher's lovely new range of hand dyed yarns at Flamboyance Yarns. I have chosen it to become the most perfect, spring suitable Levens. So I'd better knit on with the Knit Love Club socks, the Icy Leaves scarf and the Littlie's Dress before just looking at the picture breaks my resolve or it's midsummer sweltering heat and a nice scarf isn't quite so nice.

Thanks for all the compliments on the Feather scarf by the way, the recipient is most delighted with it :o)

The colour you've chosen is perfect for Spring. It would make me a very happy bunny, wearing a scarf in such a pretty hue.
Good luck trying to keep your mitts off it before finishing your other WIPs.

it's true - something new is exciting. Sometimes i let myself give into it, sometimes, I try to make the most of the current desire to finish something (like now with my featherweight). In the end what motivates me is knowing that I am most content when I have things finished - if I don't finish stuff, I start to feel very overwhelmed and like my time is being wasted.

You are not the only one anxious to start something new. The blue is lovely and ideal for spring.

I know what you mean exactly!!

My problem is I get gorgeous new yarn and feel like I can't knit with it because I have tooooo many WIPS already! So lovely yarn is ignored, which makes me just a little sad!

mmmmm pretty. i can see why you are so easily distracted by this, it looks so smooshy! i am trying to manage my own startitis by finishing just ONE of my WIPS before starting something new. for socks this means ONE in the pair is enough :)

oh it is hard isn't it - I have 4 things on the go at the moment and keep dropping them for the next new and shiny one!

Hmmm... would now be a bad time to mention that I have 6 projects on the needles just now?

:)

What a lovely color. I think startitis is a spring disorder. All of sudden wool socks and heavy sweaters are far less appealing then light, colorful things.

Thanks for the book recommendation on my blog, by the way, I'm hoping to pick up a copy from the library today.

Now that is lovely yarn! I sucumbed too!

I think that you should set yourself the goal of just finishing one knit then you can start another!

Oh my, that is a beautiful color! I can see why it is calling. I wonder if there is a knitter out there that isn't 'fickle' like that? I know I certainly am!
