New book, new pattern,

new year, new lace:
Promises to be a very pretty whisper of a scarf knit in Kidsilk Night.

One of many very beautiful patterns from this book that hopefully will encourage me to use up some luxurious single skeins being saved for something special. Maybe it will just help me to buy single skeins of something other than sock yarn when I'm in my dazed and confused "I'm in a yarn shop" state. Win win.There are so many patterns I'm sure most people would find things they'd like to knit in here and they cover a good range of projects given the one skein limitation.

I don't love the way the photos are all in one section at the front but I guess that was a way to control costs but still incorporate a full colour photo for each of the projects.
I do love the grouping of the patterns according to the weight of yarn. Very handy.

I have picked up and put back that book many times - maybe I should reconsider. I too think the grouping by weights is brilliant.

Hmm, I will also need to check into this book, that bison shawlette is pretty, as are those cashmere socks!
First I'll check the library system, usually if I check a book out and have to return it in 2 weeks, depending on the level of pain turning it back in gives me a good idea if I need it in my personal library, :^D

I've always steered away from one skein books, I'm not sure why though - I suppose I don't want any more encouragement to just buy one more skein!! But that is a gorgeous scarf pattern (I am such a sucker for knitted leaves!). It will be just lovely in the KSH!

I rarely buy single skeins of anything (except sock yarn and laceweight). Nevertheless, that book looks very tempting! I look forward to seeing your completed scarf.

I got that same book for Xmas!

I'm hoping it will help me use up some of the strays from my Kemps orders.

Probably next year though as I must stop knitting accessories this winter. I'm in hat & scarf overload!

Looks like a good book! Love your Rowanspun shawl, one yarn I heartily wish was not discontinued! Ball winders are soooo useful too, glad you invested in one - that plus a swift = a huge timesaver :-)

Christmas TIME

I've hit the December point known as - "if only there were more time" - I think it about a thousand times a day as I have yet another crazy idea of something to make/cook/do for Christmas. I like to think that if I could just abandon the job for December that I'd get it all done. I'd get more done for sure but it could never be 'all' as the inspiration out there ensures fresh supplies of schemes for wintery delights - like learning to crochet just to make snowflakes or building my own snow village or... well I'm sure you all get the idea and have a billion things bubbling over that you'll never quite get to. So it's prioritise like crazy, craft for sanity (and if it is as simple as wrapping some berries and mistletoe round a heart shaped wreath - jump for joy) and I try to remember that seeing the people I'm making the presents for is the most important thing of all! I don't think I'll be back here before I head down to the wilds

Elle est fini :o) My little beret has finally made it over the finishing line. The peloton have long since disbanded so I can't claim any colour jersey for this but I loved being part of the knitalong so I'm really just pleased I wasn't months behind.
