Indian Summer Socks

My Mum's 'summer' socks are done. I am glad what little summer we are allowed this year is happening late as these lacy cotton-blend socks are not quite right for the heading into autumn feel.Pattern: Hedera by Cookie A (love it)
Yarn: Lana Grossa Meilenweit Cotton (love it) 3/4 ball
Needles: 4 x 2.25mm Brittany Birch (love them) DPNs
Started: 11 August 2007

Finished: 14 September 2007
New Skills: Twisted stitches
Notes: It's love! Simple 4 row repeat which generates a really lovely effect. The little details are just a sign of the genius of the designer I think - using a twisted rib rather than plain and then pulling the columns of twisted stitches down the pattern separating the lacy sections is just exquisite.
I don't think I could have chosen a better lacy socks pattern to start with and I am sure I will knit these again. I am really pleased about the match of yarn and pattern; these are the perfect fresh summer socks I envisaged. I love the yarn and shall get some for socks for me - the high cotton content will make these great socks for warmer weather but the balance of the wool has kept them lovely and stretchy.Acting as a backdrop to these pretty things is my greatest ever car boot find from last Sunday. It's a well loved 'Durham' quilt full of the most exquiste workmanship; a real heirloom piece. I hope to try quilting one day and this is just the most amazing inspiration.
Off for some knitting by the beach at my friends hen do, so big smiles all round here :o)

Those Hederas are lovely - yet another on my 'to do' list! You should try some of Cookie's other patterns - monkey is not as complex as it may look and is lovely to knit! Sorry to hear I've tempted you into buying more books but those Log Cabin socks are lovely and cozy!!

I wasn`t that impressed with Hedera until I saw yours, it`s amazing how different they look when you change the yarn. Bet your mum loves them.
